Tasmania is an island located approximately 240 kilometres, or 150 miles south of the continent and is separated by Bass Strait. The state is made up many national parks and world heritage sites. The island is extremely popular for its special events throughout the year and also provides many accommodation choices for visitors.

To discover the real Tasmania there is no better way than to hire a car or campervan. The roads are good and the driving is easy and pleasant. It's about 40 minutes from Hobart to the beautiful Huon Valley and 90 minutes to historic Port Arthur. You can also visit the beautiful dense forests, which are about an hour away from Launceston or Hobart. While distances are relatively short, however, the hills with winding roads can be misleading when looking at a map. The 300 km trip from Hobart to Strahan is about a four-hour drive without stops, but stopping along for the beautiful scenery is definitely recommended!
